Bacteria and viruses contaminate many areas within cruise ships and hotels.
Viruses are not only a cruise ship phenomenon. They can be found in hotels, schools and restaurants. Pathogens can be found and spread quickly wherever there are large groups of people.
With cruise ship “outbreaks” regularly appearing in the news, awareness of illnesses has been significantly raised.
Norovirus is the 2nd most common illness in North America. According to the Center For Disease Control (CDC). It is projected to exceed more than 20 million cases annually.
The CDC mandates that all illnesses and outbreaks on cruise ships be reported. However, hotels and resorts are not compelled to report any outbreaks.
